Mk1 Cold start Issues

Post

Hi all, i knew i had a cold start issue with my campaign, so thought i would have a play as i had some spare time this week. i have several videos to try to attach.

but basically from cold the car fires and then dies, it does this over and over again, but will eventually it starts but wont rev, it improves the warmer the engine gets. when i brought the car it was a none runner and the fuesbox was so badly water damaged the pins had rusted to the loom, so i have done a lot of work swapping the pins on the loom.  I had a feeling it was going to be fuel related, I disconnected the warm up regulator and sure enough it was gummed up, so i gave it a good clean out, i turned the car over to flush the pipes with petrol, and to my surprise the car started! Even with the fuel running out as the warm up regulator was off. In turned it off and refitted the cleaned warm up regulator, but back to square one.
Luckily i had a spare on the shelf, and swapped it over hey presto it runs!
I have some video clips but cant seem to add them. Hopefully this might help somebody else with similar issues.

I have this exact issue too a tee. I will replace the warm up regulator and see what happens. I can start the engine ok but the second I try to rev it, it will cut out. Once warm, it runs ok and can be revved.

I got to the bottom of my issue although there was a different problem to yours. The vacuum hose had fallen off the distributor. I connected that back up and it started fine and revved freely when cold and warm.
