Hi, after getting rid of my 1978 mk 1 over 5 years ago when I moved house to no garage I now have a double garage to look after my new purchase !
After a few months of looking for a sportline or rivage leather I FINALLY FOUND ONE.
Hope you like it?

Looks spot on mate. Is this the same car that apparently doesn't have one straight panel and doesn't select any gears?….even though you drove it all the way up to Scotland!

Its a nice car but as usual after waiting 3 months and travelling 420 miles, 1 comes up for sale 6 days later just up the road.

Yes dubdude this is the car that has no straight panels and after 425 miles at 80mph I think the gearbox is fine.
Just given the paint a proper once over by All Seasons valeting which has come up great, usual stone chips but it is old.
Had service, cambelt done and once over in garage and alls well, new tyres and tracking done last week, new German style number plates, new mats and next job refurb the alloys.
Wife starting to moan about my infatuation and not aloud to get new mohair hood till next year, especially as the original vinyl 1 is fine.

Hi all a wee update in whats happening.
After the basics were looked at, I was taking it to show my old mum and a stupid lady drove straight out and crashed into the passenger rear quarter.
So after 6 weeks, a new rear axle, resprayed back bumper and wheelarch kit all is now good.
Just fitted spot on condition sportline steering wheel ( better nick than original one ).
New sportline gearknob from Vw ( only 4 left now )
New trickle battery charger for winter
Last night ordered the following :
EBC ultimax front brake discs
EBC ultimax front brake pads
EBC rear brake shoes
Goodridge stainless, red braided brake lines
Clear front indicators
Clear side indicators
M3 style clear and red rear light clusters
Pipercross air filter
Car is on axle stands as wheels are going away this Friday for full refurb back to original standard.
So its been a busy enough wee while but after this lot time to chill as the wife is not amused. ( nothing said about her going to New York next week with her pals )
Will post updated pics when all is fitted and weather is good.
Thanks to Stu from the club for the advice and Hugh from the sportline website for his help too
Cheers Chris

Thick snow outside and waiting for deliveries to come.
Wheels away for refurb and waiting for new brake lines, airfilter and silver amber bulbs to come so can get everything fitted.
A few random pics.

New rears

New sides

New steering wheel and sportline gearknob

Car on spare and axle stands til wheels return

New brakes

Old drums
Looking forward to everything coming and being fitted. Then hibernation til spring

Sometimes snow is great but when you are waiting on all your new parts for the wee Golf it is a right pain in the arse.
All the main items have arrived but they are no use when all the bulbs, filter and brake lines are stuck in the snow somewhere.
Roll on Spring

Santa, I mean the Royal Mail have finally delivered all my parts after waiting 4 weeks for some
Now just need to get my wheels back hopefully from the refurbers on Thursday if the weather is kind, no chance
Then off to my friendly local garage to get all new stuff on if the roads are clear and not salty, if not it will have to wait till after New Year
Need some ideas in what to do next after the new brakes and wheels are back on, want to keep it standardish so no far out ideas please and also I am useless so need 2 pay for all work
Look forward to anyones ideas
