I've got some serious car envy going on. You've done a great job, well deserved!
Can you sort mine out?

Love the idea of the show plates as a prize instead of a ribbon.

Hi mate - thanks for your comments.
You should be well able to do it yourself.
Haha I was just kidding, I'm sure I can do it. Your car is an inspiration.
This girl's gotta try her luck though!

Thanks Mike - yea probably a bit of surprise to you all, I tried to sell the sportline advertising it last May but no real interest - had a good few enquiries but not the right customer for it. I have the two cars but in reality only the need for one MK1. I'm thinking of a change…
Which ever sells first and other will be a keeper! The tintop is probably a better sale as its completed and to a very high level of detail. Time will tell…

Thanks Richard - when I saw what Chrissy did to his cabrio I always wanted to do a complete an engine detail nut and bolt job - I have it out of my system now and perhaps its time to move to something else.

Beautiful car Hugh and good luck with the sale.
At the end of the day they are only cars and we need to move on at some point, unless a car has proper sentimental value then it's onwards and upwards.
I don't regret selling any of my cars as there is always another.
This mk1 will be an amazing acquisition for somebody as it looks amazing 😍

Thinking of a change …. Porsche ? ?
Surprised to see it for sale too mate, but get the not needing 2 Mk1's thing.
Shame this was not a few months ago, as I would have definitely of had this off you .
Very well priced, I predict this will sell within a week!
Good luck with sale.
Any anyone interested remember it does not take any time at all to pop on a flight to Ireland and drive the car back

Such a stunning mk1 and if I had the cash I'd take it off your hands, I don't think you'll have much trouble shifting it.

Thanks all for your comments above! Very much appreciated.
So Hugh my friend.
You've heard the public's thoughts.
So stop drinking the potato juice and keep certainly one of the very best examples to be found outside of a museum or anywhere else come to that!
Had to be said but there your wheels at the end of the day mate!

Just a bump on my thread - the tintop is still for sale. Have had a good number of enquiries and interest just not got the right person! If looking or in the market please give me a shout I don't think you will be disappointed with the car.
I have a number of other options available with original mk1 seats, standard mild steel exhaust and pirelli wheels available to offset some costs.

Ok so now a couple of months have passed and with no real concrete offers close to my asking price and being honest a slight change of heart - I decided on keeping the car for a while longer.
I picked up a fresh set of bbs rm002, removed the arches and stripes and went single lamp to give an overall more meaty look or presence - what do you think?

Looks great, I was tempted by some RM's recently but didn't quite think they looked good enough to justify the cost with standard trim. As soon as you ditch the black wheel arches they look fabulous. Only thing left to do in. My opinion is paint the uprights behind the grille black so they don't show through.
You could get a glass bonnet though to show off your perfect engine bay!
BTW love the new look plates.
