Jellybelly has joining the Turbo Diesel Club!!!
This time it's a diesel, i've searching for a while for one and this one got brought to my attension by a certain member. (thank you)
After narrowly missing the last one i wanted with Gammy i couldn't let this one go as well
got delivered this morning so i am a little bit excited

non sunroof
blue interior
completely standard with a genuine tow bar.
theres a few problems with it but i'll soon sort them out hopefully

plans are to get it working, tax and mot'd, might give it a wash tomorrow

I take it the fuel filler pipe is fkd and tank blocked hence the temp 'fuel tank' in the engine bay?
I don't think the injector pump should have the damper thingy?

I am liking the blue interior, overall it doesnt look in too bad condition.
Will this be ready for the 20th of Feb? :-)

the injector pump is a strange story, the mechanic that had it fitted it off a seat deisel :dontknow: but ti work and he hasn't modded anything
i will take a better look at it later

been out all day cleaning the tank and lines. what was in the tank can only be discribed as curdled baileys and rusty fuel
so started to drop the rear axle so i can take the tank off
only to shear one of the studs

i'll have to fix that tomorrow if i can

well yesterday i had a look at the tank

so i started to syphon out but in the end i new that this was a much bigger job
so off came the rear axle!!!!

i sheard one of the rear axle studs which did not make me happy but i've sorted that now

so the tank came out and i flush it out wite a jet wash
worked very well but the only trouble it it cause the thin metal to do this

which is better it happened now rather than when i'd fitted it all back on
lucky i've got the tank of the rot box in the loft so i went and fetched that. turns out there the same

fitted

refitted the back axle as well but it's to dark to be taking photos. and the tank is all plumbed in ready for next weekend
one of the brake pipes broke so i'll sort that next week as well
all in all i've had a good time

after having some bad news at the start of the week
i've been put on a 3 day week

the good news i get 2 extra days on the golfs

right then
today i got the engine running off the tank so that a milestone reached
aslo blead the back brakes after replacing one of the lines, but now think that one of the rear cyclinders is a bit dodge so will look into that tomorrow

happy days!!

the car is not running off the tanks

rear brake cyclinder has been replaced

rear light now working

wipers and pump now working

horn is working

so the list of things to do is getting smaller
i've got some problems with the headlights but i'm half way there
and i can't get the rear wiper to work even tho i know it's good and the wiring is good so i think it might be a stalk issue
looking at getting it mot asap but need to sort the headlights out for that

Is it a Bosch fuel system or CAV? 4 speed gearbox?
Very pleased to see another one saved and given some tlc. Looks tidy for its age! It should be worth all the effort and serve you well. Mine is only a year or so younger than yours and it passed it's MOT no probs today and it's been my all year round daily since I got it. Not many 29-30 year old cars can say that! It may be a bit noisy (I love the engine sound myself) and a bit unrefined, but who cares when it ALWAYS gets you to work, has Mk1 good looks and does 50-60mpg.

and it has a fuel pump from something esle as the pervious owner changed it so i will look at changing it back at some point
i've gotta get things working first then this will become my daily
i love the noisy as well, also looking at running it of wvo as there are conversions you can get to run a two tank system
