I saw this on eBay, it was fairly local to me, it looked in fairly good condition in the photographs - so I thought I would stick a cheeky bid on….and I won!

Interior looks ok, but needs a good clean

Wheels look good - not my thing tho - so they will be replaced with something that suits the car more!

Engine bay looks tidy - a bit of a clean and perhaps refurb and repaint a few parts and it will look great

Unaware of whether or not there is any history with it - will find out on Friday when I collect it, but the condition indicates that the mileage may be right!

So there it is, another one to add to the fleet. Don't think I will be able to keep this one, but time will tell!

Plan for the moment is to get it MOTd give is a bloody good service and sort out the niggles so that it is all 100%

Enjoy the photos.

It appears that I will not be "allowed" to keep this one :( - (I think she may change her mind when it is finished)

So there is a possibility that I will get this one ready for many years of top down fun and then hand the keys to someone else to enjoy (they should hand me some ££s)

With this in mind, I am planning to preserve the car as it should be, with only a few subtle modifications.

Plan so far
Period wheels - probably some  14" VW Castellet wheels I think.
Clear indicators (front)
Clear indicators (side)
New door handle (drivers)
Re key all locks so 1 key works!
Full service (inc cam belt)
New discs & pads on front
Service rear brakes

I think that should do it :)

The wheels will be for sale soon, I think that they will look ok on a X reg polo, but not on a MK1 golf!

Little Update

I have changed the front grille for the later type (which suits the car better) and replaced the front passenger headlight, which was broken.

I am going to change the side repeaters, however they appear to be LED units that have been spliced into the loom! - so a bit more work than planned to sort them out!

Also, the roof isnt operational, although I can hear the relays clicking in the back, so perhaps needs fluid etc!

Fuel gauge is showing no fuel at all, so assuming tank is empty! - engine turns over fine, am going to blast the lines with air and put some new fuel in and get it serviced in the next week or so.

14" le castellet wheels on their way to me too! - so the car will look a lot better :)

Today's task involves trying to follow the "extra" wires which have been installed as part of the alarm and the LED side repeaters.

Seems to be a few issues with the coil wiring and distributor so will be doing some digging in the garage tonight to find some spares!
