For Engine Conversion
I'm wanting to do an engine conversion and would like either.
GTD or TDI engine preferably with auxiliaries but will consider without if necessary…
Thanks

A 1.6 or 1.9 D engine is only about the same power as your 1.3.
Finding a 1.6 TD without 200,000miles already on it will be difficult.
A MK3 1.9 TD will be slightly easier to locate, why not just drive a MK3 TD if you are that worried about economy?
A TDI lump will involve extra hassle with the wiring and immobilisers.
You will need a list of other parts, gearbox, drive shafts, exhaust inc special down pipe for some engine types, gear linkage setup, fuel setup, grinding off and rewelding car engine mounts, locating and fitting mount to engine (MK1 diesel different from newer mounts).
In this country petrol is cheaper than Diesel and insuring a modified car can be expensive.
Seems awful lot of expense and effort you will never see back unless you are cover 30K+ miles a year.
If worried about life in the slow lane get a standard GTI, they do @35mpg and 40+ on a run.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Ive not ran it but assured it does run i think the guy said 120k, but i have no proof of that. I still have the gearbox but someones wanting it tomorrow. Its the same as the one i jave in my car with the same turbo which every one wants as its the stronger/bigger one. Not sure on the code.
It only requires a few bits but ill chick in a big box of spares anyway.
