Settling In

Well Hello there
Been lurking the last few days after getting my first Mk1.
Love the site, hopefully i'll fit in.
little bit about me, i'm 37 next week, have been driving sice i was 18. Iv'e had various cars during my driving life from fords to vauxhalls.
Myself and a friend aquired this car for peanuts off of a young lad who lived next door 2 years ago and it has been sitting on my in-laws drive ever since. luckily he didn't do too much damage to it, even his dodgy body repairs are salvigable.
But i have now had to move it. so i have decided to get here back to tip top condition and keep her for the summer months. ( during the winter into the garage she will go.) this may take me a while as i'm self employed and money is hard to come by, but over the next couple of years it will be done

She sailed through the MOT yesterday with only a wiper blade and front headlight bulb changed, which must go to show how well these little cars were built.
My wife has a Mk2 Driver which isn't a bad drive, but i find the cab layout much comfier in the Mk1.
anyway enough of the rambling…
I suspect i will have loads of questions to lob into the pot during the coming months.
onto the pics ( if i can load them right

That looks like a golf in good nick apart from the door and the mighty nasty cut in your roof there. If you get a new vinyl there's a very VERY good guide on how to attach a new vinyl. Step by step and my step-dad got our new vinyl on No problems

Well done on rescuing the cabby! 8)
Shame about the slash in the roof, looks in good nick apart from that. Would have probably had a good couple of years left in it.
Congrats on 5000!!

the wheels at a distance don't look bad , but tbh they are flaking all over. so they are def in need of a refurb as well.
More pics will be coming

and a small list of needed parts as well :?

She's having her MOT on Sat, only 1 tyre perished in that time ( well went flat and side wall split ) so hopefully she'll pass.
Took 5 mins to start , a tiny drop of fuel in carb and away she went.
definetly sorting her out this time. kids are older and works a bit better.
