Welcome Trip Taker, yes looks a solid car as most cabriolets don't seem to suffer as much rust as tin top cars, maybe because they where put together by Karmann.

Front bumper looks like it needs better alignment as it look like it sitting a little low, 2 bolts each side and a 13mm spinner will sort that out.
Drivers side roof is sitting to high and I guess the side tension cable has snapped or the roof has shrink over time, Mohair roofs do need cleaning and conditioning to stay there best.

Shout if you need any help or advice and keep us updated on how it all goes when the car arrives next week.

Hey man, thanks for your reply.

Yeah shes a solid little car. Enging bay, boot well etc was all good.

Yeah i noticed the bumber too, its also a tad stained or faded maybe so ill look at a respray on it.

The roofs new so im not sure if its been a fitting issue thats been gave up on but im sure itll fix easily.

Ive put a deposit and its getting delivered monday. Ill get a better look then, as I viewed in the fellas garage. I'll also be able to take it a spin as It was blocked in the garage.

Its got coil over suspension thats way too low so ill need to adjust that.

But yeah its defo clean, looking at mot history its had 10 or years off the road from 08 or 09 to 19/20  i think it was.

Theres a tiny paint bubble on rear quarter and the drivers door has a hairline split in the pain which ill prob just finger some filler into the wipe surface excess off to prevent water getting in just now. Itll get painted too when i get round to it.

Im just trying to find a decent cover, it will be going in my garage anyways along with my bike. But i was going to invest in a decent cover regardless. Scottish winters can be harsh and my garage roof has occasional leaks.

Its an auto too. He said theres a slight flat spot and reckons carbs could do with a tinker.

Alloys are the gti bbm ones i think? And could do with a refurb or good clean.

All in all I think ive done ok for my money. Ive seen people asking 5-7k but of course what people are asking and getting are very different. Im hoping it will appreciate in a few years too 🤷

My first classic car though, cant wait to get her. Ill upload more photos on delivery (providing test drive goes ok)

Ach,

Just a vibe I had.

There was a couple of things just gave me that gut instinct. Im pretty limited in my own DIY capabilities. All be it theres the forum of course.

I just felt it wasnt what i was after. Theres other cars out thete for a bit more.

That wee car was solid but just a combination of wee things told me no.

Dont really wanna say too much as the cars obvs still for sale and i dont wanna impede anyones sale by my limited guess work and assumptions online kinda thing.

I just felt it was a bit more of a project than i wanted to tackle. Im after a wee usable project to tinker on simple things as i use it.

Ill just keep saving n looking. Couple of nice ones going but out my price range.

Yeah but i want my death to be due to my heart collapsing after a weekend a boom chika whaah whaah with a supermodel. Not going round a bend in a dodgy clipper at 30 and careering down a mountain side cis the brake pedal goes to the floor and bits are falling off it
