Hi I'm a newbie from Durham. Last year I bought the car i have always wanted a MK 1 Golf. This year I have started restoring it. I don't know much about cars but I'm wanting to learn. So I have signed up to the website to get advice and tips and also to meet other MK1 owners!

Yeah not too bad mate… Few skint knuckles and lots of swearing so far

No meets as of yet mate. I know people are trying to get some sorted but there's not many of us up here and we are quite spread about. My car is currently off the road being restored, I hope to join some meets when it's done.

Your MK1 looks good, what work does it need?

You'll be an expert before you know it. A lot of us started on here knowing nothing, and are now, self-confessed experts!!

I will put some more photos up when its back from the garage! Its currently getting the sills replaced.
Work that needs doing is just some minor body work but I know that will only be the start of it!

Looks ok in the pics.
It's worth taking pics as you go along working on the car.
Once you get started start a new Post in the My Project section so we can follow how you are doing.
There's the google search facility on here and a list of how to's plus a wealth of Knowledge to boot.
Maybe you can make the AGM  later this year?

welcome, as per melteddrummer, get ya sell added to the North east page, there's also a facebook page as well. if the weather stays nice going to try and sort a meet for the end of march/april time see how many ppl we can get along
