Hi all,
for us young uninformed ones,
what is a swallowtail golf, and how can one easily distinguish between it and a normal golf visually outside?
also, i know ive asked this before, but cant remeber where, what is the badge on the old ones, looks like a horse or a dog or something, found ont eh steering wheel etc.

A Swallowtail has an indentation in the pressing of the rear panel just to the side of the bottom of the number plate in the shape of a swallow's tail (see my avatar). There is another post here http://www.vwgolfmk1.o…ums&file=viewtopic&t=3558 with some more info and pics.

you are such a boffin.
im keeping my eyes open for a 2 door in SA, they are so scarce, as most were used for racing once they left the road and are now non existant.
found a body though, bit rusty under the front windshield and in other places, car is stripped, would it be a worthwhile project?

I'd say it would be worth the work as they're so hard to find over there!
