Newcomer with 1.6 karmann

hello all. just got a 1980 1.6 karmann and finally got her running smoothly last week. I noticed now that the mileage isnt changing and the oil gauge needle isnt moving also though the light on the gauge does work. any ideas on what it might be or should i get a new clock asap.

Welcome to the forum Paul! Is it a GLi or a carb model?

For the oil temp gauge you need to test you have 12V at the back of the gauge on the "+" terminal with the ignition on and 12V at the bulb with the lights on. Then you can trace back the wiring to see where the fault lies. You can use a multimeter or a test light for this.

For the mileage, does the speedo work correctly? If it does the speedo is to blame if it doesn't then I would check the cable connection at the back and at the gearbox end.
