Hello all,
I picked my 1st mk1 up last week after loads of other VW's and Porsche's and I have to say 'I am Lovin it'.
Some photos to come real soon.
I already have a question, in mk2 golfs the temp needle stays right in the middle of the gauge but the mk1 has a white box to the left of the gauge, is this normal temp in this zone or is it warm up temp?
thanks,
Tom.

Welcome
White box is the 'Cold Zone', manual says Avoid high engine speeds and do not work engine too hard yet. So your spot on.
Depending on the car will settle at midway or slightly to the right of it.
Just a note, if you fill in your location or rougharea in your profile then if there is a meet in your local area they are more likely to advise.
Be great to see them pics when your able to post em.

that is a cool car, i bet that can shift some with all the internals stripped out, drive careful though would be a shame to bend it

I saw that on ebay a few weeks ago. I thought this car would come up on the screen as soon as I saw your username.
Are you going to be rallying it then?

I am in Sheffield. A local meet would be cool.
The car was bought to do a few track days in, I dont have a licence to rally it but have been thinking about it.
Yes it was on ebay at one time, but I bought it off ebay.
Its not that fast, not bad from 0-50mph but soon runs out of steam. It has all the interior removed but a very solid roll cage, sump gaurd and welded up shell. I have no plans to bend it and am used to driving a lot faster and more demanding cars.
I would like to tidy it up a bit, if anyone has a front and rear bumper for sale. I been told you cant get them anymore?? Also would like 14" steel wheels are same size alloys that would suit. Could also do with some help to wire up a 2nd temp gauge.
