Sorry can't help you with the cambelt but I'm sure somebody else can.

Does anyone have the cambelt procedure for the 1.8 8v engine or could you point me in the right direction of which Haynes manual covers it
Thanks
Luke
Welcome to the club first of all.
I believe the brown one will be what you need.
Although I have the big red Bentley manual from the US as it covers more including my Digifant II fuel injection system.
Good decision to become a fully Paid Member, it helps you with discounts on a wide range of parts and services and helps us run this great club!

Car has passed its mot and has a few advisories but not bad to say it has been stood for 6 years,
The underneath is solid but the body needs work and the hood needs replacing.
I have serviced the car and just have the cambelt and water pump to change and a few hoses that are cracked and worn.

If you are doing the Timing Belt (CAM belt).
You should also do the right side motor mount the first time.
If you have a/c then I have a how do I do that on removing the water pump. Which you should replace when doing the Timing Belt.
The hints for you are:
Set the CAR in TIME first.
See Ignition section of Cabby-info.com for pictures.
Replace the Motor Mount bracket Allen bolts on the rear with Hex bolts the same length and pitch.
Remove the upper cover.
Remove the lower belts, in my how to's
Remove the Crank Pulley Center Bolt.
Remove the lower timing cover.
Remove the Tensioner if the nut is at a angle or you have to jack the engine, then the mount is bad and needs replacing. You will want to replace the tensioner as well.
Take the old off replace it.
Tighten the belt so there is no more than 1/2 twist i the belt between the Cam and Intermediate shaft.
Get thee a Bentley.
The Proper Haynes is:
VW Rabbit, Golf, Jetta Scirocco, Pick-up
1975-1992 All Gas Engine Models
96016
Haynes has better electrical diagrams than the Bentley but the Bentley is best.
