Newbie - hello
Finally decided that I had to have a gti cabriolet and after a long search bought one.
It is in the only colur I didnt want, white, but it was the the right car - mature owner, lots of history and low mileage.
Have been a member of Club GTI for many years but have become a little disallusioned as it seems to have been over run by the "max power" brigade.
Anyway big Hello to you all !!!

The previous owner was pretty fastideous - only out in the dry - seats/carpets out and stored in the house over winter - took all trim/badges off to polish - weekly !!! - even polished inside boot !!
a few little niggles to sort but nothing too serious I hope
will add to register later

having a new mohair hood fitted on monday - going for dark blue as opposed to black (think it was originally white)
Really want to change the wheels for a set of castelets form a rivage - currently fitted with a set of new BBS's but in my opinion they look a little too new in design for the car - apart form that its going to stay looking pretty standard - oh and it has full black leather as well

PICS, PICS PICS !!!!
I think I still have a set of LeCastelets, (too much stuff piled up in the garage !!) but they would need refurbishing……
EDIT: Sorry, they are 14" and one is absolutely awful, the other 3 just bad !!!!
Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Actually noticed last night that the cables in the current roof are not connected to anything at the front ??
would definately be interested in the wheels if they are 15"
Fancy a px/swop with my BBS's ?????

Like wise re CGTI…but I still rejoined this year just to get the 10% discount at various places. It pays for itself over a year.
Watch this space after the AGM…

Do you realise you have a campaign steering wheel on it? The original steering wheel would have been more modern looking, the same as on a mk2 GTI of the same era. The leather on the campaign one goes well with the rest of the interior though. if you were to change it the campaign steering wheels are worth a fair bit. You've also got the older type gear knob on it too!
So do you have many niggles to sort out?
Cheers,
Ross

Still got a few niggles to sort out - temp gauge still intermittant - tap on top of dash brings it back to life
When it does work - the needle is sitting on the half way mark - will get whole cooling system checked out - replaced stat - didnt make much difference!
need to replace front springs and shocks (and top mounts) car seems to bounce over undulations but really does bang over pot holes - rear already has new shocks/springs/hubs
Who has best deals on standard springs/shocks ???

RE "but really does bang over pot holes "
Show me a GTI that doesn't…mine has done it from new and all the inserts, topmounts, etc. have been replaced once! and it still does it.
I have a little cringe to myself and assume the Uniroyals take all the stress.
