Newbie - Helios Blue Campaign
Hello all,
Firstly I would like to say a big thank to you all for the wealth of information and advice I have found on this site - it is an invaluable resource.
Saturday morning I become the proud owner of a Helios Blue Campaign! She's been placed straight in the garage and I can't wait until April when I will tax her for the summer months.

Welcome to the site!
Very clean and smart looking golf you've got there. Any plans for it? Does it need any work before you put it on the road?

Thanks. Well I'm now all paid up to the register and am looking forward to receiving my members pack!
My plans for the car are to keep it as standard as possible, although I am at some stage going to need replace the the boot. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can source one? (Must be as new i.e. new rust or dents).
I am also looking for a dust sheet suitable for storage in the garage or on very rare occassions when the car is kept outside in the summer.
Anybody have any tips for keeping the car in great condition?

lovely mk1..looks spot on…
perfect boots are quite hard to find, watch out for rust around the window seal and along the bottom… i managed to get a brand new one from someone on edition 38,he had it stored for his mk1 but never needed it!
whats wrong with your boot? it looks ok

The boot has rusted from the inside out under the ledge below the key hole and above the number plate. (Caused by leaking washer jet hose?)Thankfully it isn't very obvious but I suspect it will only get worse over time. The guy I brought it from is a VW bodywork specialist and he said he would do it on the cheap if I can find a boot.
I am worried that a cover will do more damage than good, but the guy I bought the car from had it under one for two years and clearly hasn't caused any problems.
I'm in Manningtree (Britains smallest town!). Count me in on regional jaunts just as soon the weather is dry and the roads are a bit cleaner. Where and when?

Just a tip: Make sure when storing a car it can breathe and no water can gather or hang about. the key is central heated garage or fresh air!!!
