A modified standard number plate bracket that mounts to the standard points on the front bumper.Just moves the plate back a bit so you can see more of the gti deep spoiler.

I agree, looks great Zak!

Kins - Those wheels are MIM 2900's like I've got on mine but Zaks are polished with black spokes and centrecaps (that I've been looking for some of them everywhere!  :banghead: ).

I was thinking about getting mine polished up and even going the black spoke way. What do you think?

I've seen some great pictures of Zaks car that his brother posted on:

Yeah, nice pics of zaks. Thats' damn low - thought I had problems with my front spoiler but that must get scraped a lot?!

The black spokes look good, not so sure if they'd go as well on Mars Red car - tough on to call to be honest Andy.

Can you still buy MIM 2900's or is this an old wheel?

That really is a stunning looking car zak! You must be well chuffed with it.

Do you get any hassle from the law on the German style number plates?

Thanks, just planning on putting the lower side decals in silver on the car to give it more of the original look.

I never used to have any problems with the plates but it seems as if the police are clamping down on the issue lately. Since the police have invested in those vans that drive around that constantly read number plates and cross reference a background check on the driver they want everyone to have a uniform style of number plate. This is because some plates with ilegal fonts and the German script style cannot be read by them. Also according to Auto Express, London congestion charging cameras and some speed cameras cannot read them either. So previously i have been stopped and the police have been fine about the issue but last week i got stopped and i was given a vehicle defect notice whereby i had to put the standard plates on and take the car to a mot staion to get the notice stamped. The officer explained if i get caught with them 3 times my registration will be withdrawn and i will be issued with a Q plate although i am pretty sure this is more to do with people who run private plates and illegally space then and play with the digits to make the plate read diferently.

I thought a "Q" plate was only issued to cars that have been stolen and recovered.

We used to own a Helios Blue Clipper and that got stolen and recovered and was issued with a "Q" plate?! - I could be wrong though.

Yeah I was led to believe 'Q' plate's were issued to Stolen and recovered or X-Military

I think a Q is given to any car that does not have a known reg in the UK.  Some imports tho can get an appropriate year plate.

i guess if they take your reg off youi for messing around you don't have a reg any more  :(

Kit cars sometimes get a Q-plate too - I think based on how much of the base car is left intact?

I think the q plate issue is more geared towards those drivers that illegally space and manipulate their registrations. im not convinced the officer was fully clued up on it and must have  misinterperated it. Didnt stop me from getting a vehicle defection notice. Im back to standard plates now so dont have any problems.

With regards to the location of my front number plate i just modified a standard numberplate holder so that the plate sits back a few inches inline with the grille, just means you can see more of the deep spoiler and looks less like an after thought hanging off the bumper lol
