New Member - Hello!

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself.

I've wanted a MK1 cab since I was a little Phirelet. Sounds mad but whenever I've been making big life decisions, I know if I'm making the right choice based on if I see one around. I've never actually admitted that to anyone!

I knew one day I'd get one and that day is coming. I plan to buy within the next year so thought I'd sign up here and really gen up so I know exactly what to look for. I'm looking forward to becoming part of the community  :D

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Well starting a business at the beginning of the year has meant I've had to put everything else on the backburner, but with GTi International iminent, I've been getting fired up about it again and have decided that its Rivage or bust…. I can't wait to get stuck into my search :)

There's nothing quite like driving around in a cabby with the weather we had the other week…

Look at the Sportline too. Rivage and Sportline were the 2 special editions towards the end of the life of the Mk1 Golf (by that time, convertible only) so if that's the kinda thing you're after (not too old and good condition) these are the ones to seek. I personally think that the Sportline is a little nicer, but its just an opinion really and there's not much wrong with the Rivage either! By that time, they all had power hoods and power windows too. The sportline was sportier, had red needles on its dials, sports seats and different 15" wheels and was available in red and black.

PS welcome to the club!

I've never driven a Rivage but I do own a Sportline, It's one hell of a looker  and you do get a lot of attention for owning one due to the low numbers made.

The seats are possibly the most comfortable I've ever sat in, they're slighty tighter then most Ricaro's apparently and cause I'm a skinny fella most don't hold me in, but these do!

If you're gonna get one, everyone sells them at the start of the summer and usually ask between ?500-?1000 more than usual.

I bought mine in the winter for next to nothing, got it sorted and now it's rock and rolling for the summer!

Thanks for all the advice everyone, all very welcome. I've already enlisted the help of Walt in my search, I'm taking this very seriously! I had considered a sportline, but you know what its like when you get fixed on something…

I've waited almost 20 years, another year or so is not going to hurt if thats what it takes to find the right car, as I'm in it for the long haul. I'm after the most standard, mint example I can possibly find, that or one with minimal aftermarket tinsel thats easy to change. So if anyone sees what I'm after - let me know! :)
