new member from ayrshire.

alright guys, just joined the forum to have a wee scout about peoples projects before i start my own.

I currently own a mk4 golf but i want to go back to the original and buy a mk1 as a wee project just after the new year to be ready for the summer.

I recently restored a 1989 austin mini, for my sister,  which turned out to be great fun and i would like to start something for myself.

my motoring knowledge isn't fantastic so you might need to expect some silly questions, but my aim is to buy a shell and start building from there, or buy a golf in need of restoring then strip it, paint it and rebuild it. I really just want to learn as i go along by myself, as with the mini, i had quite a lot of help from a mechanic mate.

Most of the shells/projects i have seen are in England and as i am only 20 i am unable to tow a trailer, so i would prefer to look at something a bit closer if i could.

Sounds like a good plan! Wack a wanted post in the Cars Wanted section and hopefully you'll find that project car soon. And ask away with any of your questions in the forum, people will be happy to help :mrgreen:
