New Mark 1 owner 16 years of age :)
Hi people, I just bought myself a mark 1 golf for ?400 done 140,000 miles. Small parts of rust etc. Just wanted to introduce myself basically to you guys. I am a noob when it comes to Volkswagen never ever owned one in my family. My dad drives a E39 530D which Ive done bits up on myself such as fitting 16:9 screen in it, small things on it here and there. I'm proud to own my mark 1, think its such a classy car. Anyway im sure u'll help me out lol. See ya guys.

Thanks matey hopefully my mark 1 shall be here this weekend, its a 1.3 but a few things have gone wrong with it which I wish to sort out, the engine apparently doesnt reach 50mph because it overheats and also the clutch has broken. Are these easy problems to sort out?

the 1.3 engine is a good starting base pretty simple to get around as for the clutch could just be the cable :wink:

how do. good choice. 1.3 is a nice motor. clutch and over heating could be related if the clutch is dead the car will be reving very high at 50mph which won't help. other than that coolant flush and change. and oil change as first jobs will help resolve issues to start with.

stick at it mate, when i went to look at the first mk1 i was interested in i travelled to london on a coach to look at it and was gutted!
it did become quite famous on here for all the wrong reasons (anyone remember our friend tupac?!
)
just keep looking, found my perfect mk1, and now it's laid up in my unit as a bareshell, moving on to better things though 8)
nice to know there are plenty of young lads into mk1s (me being one at 18!)

I can imagine it's a huge disappointment, but maybe a lucky escape??
If he can do that after you actually paying him for the car, whose to say that he hadn't been less than hones about the car itself in the first place?
I reckon you would have found all sorts of problems you weren't expecting.
Keep waiting, your MK1 will find you soon! :mrgreen:
