New guy wanting to say hi
Hello all
I have just got myself back into a golf, my first car after passing my test was a mk2 1.3 cl great car. Bought myself a little Mk1 Golf GLi Cabby today and am rather looking forward to my future with it.
Heres a couple of pics for starts :-
Got a few bits to do to her like sort out the running as its lumpy (cold and hot) all the way to 50mph :? and them wheels have got to go as they scrub (badly) then when winter hits I'm looking to start restoring her to former glory
Hopefully the site will be of use to me and I will be able to return the favour

Well the guy I bought the car off was kind enough to give me the orignals that look like this (dont know the name of them sorry)
However they appear to have been painted in a combination of gloss, vinyl silk emulsion and kiddies poster paint lol so gonna refurb them myself and get them on for now and then think about my final choice, maybe some bbs or borbet A's but not entirely decided yet :dontknow:

to be honest with you mate I havent looked, spent most of the day either driving it or cleaning the interior :redfaced:
However it is very similar to BMW's Metallic Calypso Red.
When the sun comes up again I will pop the bonnet and have a butchers at the colour tag and find out

pretty certain its not been resprayed as the colour is the same everywhere, under bonnet, inside doors, inside the boot etc. So if it was they went the full hog with it. it has been sprayed at some point on the passenger wing as it has some runs in it. Not too bothered though as it will be getting a full respray when I resto it, deffo staying with the colour though

I cheked today and it's deffo original colour. Paint code is LD3V Siena Red Metallic according to the a website I checked last night it was only available on EU cabs made in 1983 (which is the year of mine) and according to VW there wasn't that many ordered in this colour so looks to be quite rare. Don't know how true this is but I can't say I have seen any :?
