New Boy looking @ buying a mk1,need advice!
ive always toyed with the idea of a mk1 but never found one on the road @ the right price (till now)
So please can you advise me on pitfulls ie faults to look out for this dub im looking @ failed its mot only on brake disc's @ front as ive seen sheet and asked mot station,thats been done and will have full ticket etc,its a 1300cc and has decent body,stock height,tidy etc,thats all ill be able to see!
so please any advice on probs to keep eye out for,how easy to lower,maintain,improvements i can do and how to keep reliable as it will be a daily but do want to mod slightly but old skool aswell!

Check door fit and gap as always a give away for a bumped shell.
Keep it serviced and the engines are good for 150K. As with any old car they will allways need something doing but can be very relaible and cheap motoring.

I run my GTI cab everyday and it runs lovely, change the oil regulary and these engines go on for ever, mines done 156000 and is sweet as a nut
Electrics can be a little odd, but if you run a 66 split then you understand old wiring problems!
