I can't wait to collect my Cabriolet next Saturday!

Hello everyone,
I live in Abergavenny (that's in south east wales), and next Saturday I get to collect my new car - an H reg Clipper cabriolet - I'm so excited!! I'll post some photos when I get it home!
Has anyone got advice on basic upgrades I could do e.g uprated air filter etc? The car is totally original and standard apart from having it's cassette player replaced with something more 21st century!!

If its a clipper you can take the air box and filter off and get a K&N to sit directly ontop the carb

Hi and a very warm welcome to the Club.
Bet your feeling like a little kid right now, can't concentrate, can't sleep and big knot in your tummy?
Stop looking at the pictures you've got, you'll have your grubby little hands on it soon enough Mate!    

But a word of advice and there's plenty of it on this website, almost all of it the best.  
You have said and I quote, "The car is totally original and standard', right stop there a second.
Take your time before you make any changes to the car other than normal service parts like plugs etc…

You have what many people are spending a fortune trying to recreate!
Now just to make it clear, I'm not against MOD's, to each their own.

But it's very hard to take one back the other way and it's only getting harder and the parts prices are only moving in one direction, guess which?

If it's original, live with it a while, spend a lot of time on this website and get informed, then you can decide to make any MOD's.

BTW.
You will loose a good amount of the investment made on MOD's should you choose to sell it at some point (which I hope you don't) sell it I mean.  

So, start my reading the last 10,000 posts because you will learn a lot and that should take you up to Saturday and don't forget to become a fully paid member to gain all the benefits this club has to offer!

I suppose what I mean by basic upgrades are things like decent filters etc, I absolutely will not be doing any customising etc…years ago I had a fantastic original Beetle and wish I had never sold it, so I'm hoping my Golf will adequately fill it's shoes!
I may need to do a little bit of work on the body; one of the front corners has a crack in the paintwork behind the bumper - looks like a parking incident!
You'll get to see some photos soon and I hope you think it's a decent buy…in fact someone might recognise it as I think it was a member of the Newport club at one time

…and I've just joined the club, so I really hope all goes well tomorrow when I collect the car…
