Howdy
I currently don't own a Golf, although the MK1 is what started off my obsession with VW's
I currently own a slammed 76 lofoten green bug which I am considering parting with to buy a MK1!!

I know they are as rare as rocking horse poop, but if I could find a lofoten green Golf then I would deffo sell my bug.
I am from the Wirral, t'other side of the water from Liverpool, I work for a solicitors and I deal with RTA's. I live with my mrs Jo, 2 kids our 12 year old Olivia and our rebel 4 year old Sophie. I have them trained well in all things VW

That is a lovely bug… can't you keep it and a mk1? Glad you found the site!! Have you been looking for a mk1 long?
Same old story I am afraid, if I had the money I would keep the bug and buy a MK1. I have always loved the Golf, I strayed onto the aircooled scene and I got my pride and joy.
I know this is going to sound corny but I watched Wheeler Dealers the other night, no sooner had it finished I was trawling the web looking at MK1's for sale!! So I have only been looking for the last week. I am really torn with what I should do, I love my bug, but the MK1 has always had a stronghold on me

Anyway, if you want a mk1, check our for sale ads. If you have no joy then check here:-

Both my mk1's were from http://www.edition38.com/forums/ as many come up for sale on there… you may need to sign up though I'm not sure. The site itself though doesn't have the same atmosphere as this one so I don't go on it much apart from the for sale section. Look around it though as you may like it.

Alot of money for a lot of car really. I can't get £50 together at the min let alone £4500  . I'd love this motor if it's as nice in the flesh as the photo's.. bet it's even more stunning.

I think the lofoten Golf is an awesome car, but my reason for looking for a MK1 is so I can drive it all year round.
I used my bug as a daily since November last year, I could use it again but choose not to as the paint is starting to show here and there, it is nothing bad by any stretch.
Not having my own car is really driving me nuts, the Mrs has a mk3 Gti but we work at different parts of the Wirral, she drops the kids off to school and I have to bum lifts here n there.
So the obvious choice for me is a MK1, still a cool car to have as a daily?!

I know that if I sell my bug I will be close to tears!! I reckon it is worth £3750 or thereabouts, the motor is sweet, a 1200 with less than 60k on the clock, it does have a few blemishes that need sortin but it is 33 years old afterall

£3500 in this climate mate you'd get a seriously tidy mk1. Read the buyers guide for problem areas mate just to give you a heads up.
I think I have found THE golf for me, it is at the top of the cars for sale on here, it is a black campaign, unmolested. From the pictures it looks mint, I have sent a PM to the seller asking for a few more pics, if all looks good the bug will be put up for sale on Vzi, a forum I frequent quite a lot!!
