Hello, just registered.

Feel like a bit of a fraud, because I dont actually own a Mk1 (yet). But Im looking to get a Mk1 Cabriolet, then go to Portugal and back in it over the summer. Did a similar thing in a 1984 Mercedes 200t last year, but we were surfing, and theres no need for such a big car thats so inefficient on fuel this year. I also like to go in something with a bit of retro charachter, so the Golf Cabrio seemed like a good choice. Not sure about the momey situation, but do you think an early car should make it, its a pretty intense couple of thousand miles to begin with?

I do also own a newer Polo and think the VW scene is very strong. This seems like another great forum.

Sounds like a great trip you have planned. The Cabriolet will be great fun. You should be able to pick up a tidy car for ?2000 or so. Let us know how it goes!
