hi there, new GTI owner
hi! im matt, i live in germanyat the mo (but im english), owned and loved various mk2's and sciroccos over the years but have just bought this 1983 mk1 gti. sounds like it probably wont suit your tastes though! its in full on track spec, full roll cage, super low and stiff suspension, rolling roaded at 155bhp, its a bit mad, like. i only live 200 miles from the nurburgring though, so its perfect. needs new paint and a good service, but its got no rot at all and the engine runs a treat.

im looking forward to having a good summer playing with it, and the winter reconditioning it.

not wrong!
parts are easy to get, even more so than some modern cars. mk1's are still a fairly common sight on the roads (especialy cabriolets, i guess people make more of an effort to keep those running). gona get me 4 new tyres (tax free-yay!) and a load of filters and fluids tomorow, and bits are cheap compared to the uk.
