Hi, newbie here. I've just bought my first Mk1
It's a 1982 1.6 GTi in Mars Red. It had a body shell restoration in 2000.
The interior and engine are a bit tatty and I will want to get them sorted at some stage.
Currently this is my daily drive.
Loving the website and probably going to get in trouble at work for spending so much time on it.
Cheers

Looks like you got the right car - a good body with tired engine & interior is a much better place to start than the other way around, as many of those here will testify!

Then spend some more money buying a rusty mk1 MR2 thats held together by blue tack and then you can be the laughing stock as wellwalt
Hey, tidy motor! Looks quite nice but with a few simple mods could look even better! First of all you will need to cut the entire roof off using either an air operated zip gun or tin snips! Next mask off everything that is made of rubber and glass! Then paint the whole thing dark metalic pearl blue! Get rid of those fiddly hard to clean wheels and replace with some shiny le castellet's and hey presto you will be the envy of the entire club! Well…Most!
Oh by the way, Nice car Patman

Says the man who's car has had more grills than Jamie Oliver and more hose pipe stuffed in it than that Cheryl out of Bucks Fizz!….If we take a look at your car DjEv…It's only the dirt thats holding the rust together, or is it the other way round?
