Hi guys Thought I'd drop in and say hello - I don't currently own a mk1 golf (running a mk2 polo squareback at the moment), but I'm thinking of selling up at some point soon and getting myself a nice classic golf, so I'm trying to get a feel for the golf 'community'
If anyone's got any particular buying tips they'd be appreciated - I'm after a roadworthy car, but I'm happy to give it some tlc to bring it up to scratch

What sort of Mk1 are you thinking of? Campaign, GTi, 1.8, 1.6, Carb, GLS, Diesel, Cab, Caddy……..

I'm just looking at either a 1.3 or a 1.5 - want a touch more power than the 1043 polo, but insurance is a bit of an issue really so unfortunately no GTi's or cabs for me Diesel has crossed my mind, but they seem to be few and far between..  As for spec I'm not really bothered, it'll be whatever I can get that's roadworthy for very little money.. my attitude to trim levels is that if it hasn't got it then I can always fit it later
