Golf MK1 disel 1900cc engine
I have a VW campervan T25 with a VW Golf MK1 engine fitted. It is superb! It has 2 fan belts & a 'shim?' Unfortunately 1 of the fan belts has a lot of give in it and the red engine temp light comes on occasionally. If I change gear it goes off. I cannot make it come on.
I have been to numerous garages who cannot fit me in to look at it, 'oh you need a new fan belt' etc There lies the next problem. I have been to loads of motor factors & online sites who cannot do anything without the registration plate of the engine. Which I do not know.
I am going round in circles. I have measured with a piece of string the outside of the fan belts (65cm & 5?cm). But this still does not seem to help anyone.
Please please please can one of you lovely people help me please?
On the log book the engine number is OSG94. If this helps anyone.
I hope you can help me keep Hazel the camper van on the road.
Best wishes

Uk Mk1 Golfs all had 1 alternator belt, 950 x 10.
Euro car parts list a belt 625 x 10 for cars which had air conditioning as they had 2 belts so it may fit yours?

Having 3 Cabbies in the US, only having 1 belt for the A/C water pump crank, and a separate a/c to Alt, and crank to PS, I was going to opt for one setup that had a Dual crank to Waterpump to PS and the One from Crank to a/c to waterpump. I always thought that the single belt to WP Crank A/C as a accident waiting to happen.
Never got around to configuring it for 2 belts…
But 2 belts on the WP in the USA config would of been a smarter thing.
