Hello from new member!!

Well I've found this site while searching for MK1 golf resources on the net. Hopefully it's going to be a valuable source of information for me!!

I'll tell you a bit about me and what I've got for those that are interested.

I'm 23 years old from kent, and I've got a 1983 mk1 golf cabriolet, which I discovered last year with only 57,000 miles and service history to back it up, and one of the best bodys I've ever seen on a mk1 golf (I still can't get over how rust free it is!!) Currently in state of dis-assemblement in my garage, having a good clean, and various bits replaced!!

So that's me, Hello everyone!

Hi and welcome Maniac.
Sounds a good find, the sort of thing I am hoping for one day (even though we have 2 already).

Hi Maniac,

Seems that the newest members all drive cabrios!!

Prowler, how did you get that superb photo in your posting?

By the way, I am not telling my age but I have a 1985 Cabrio 1.8 GTI  Used to have a Freelander and my hubby asked me what my dream car would be - needless to say it was the Golf - I got it for Valentine's day 2003 and have not stopped smiling since.

….took the basic shot at Western Heights, Dover on the way back from MOT for the GTI (actually it was an ego-boosting trip with both cars together - turns a lot of heads     ). Then used Photoshop to crop, add a border and then a drop shadow to the whole thing………I just LOVE photoshop

Great to see some more Cabrios here. There are 14 OTHER Cabs in and around where we live, it's just catching the owner's…….

Great to see there's other enthusiasts in kent!!

Fantastic, Finally a message board that's fairly active! You wouldn't believe how many clubs etc. there are out there where you post a message and never get any replies!

Well for you information prowler, I'm in North kent near Sittingbourne. The car I got came from the Ise of sheppy origenally, and was owned by an elderly couple from brand new. It was the first Golf cabriolet on the island, and is well known in the area for that! They were keeping it for their grandson for when he passed his test, (The milage on the MOT certs. for the last 4 years was really low, as they never drove it!) but apparenty he didn't want it, so it was sold!!! (silly fool) Apparently it had never left the island till I brought it!  I'll try and get some pics on here soon.

Nice to finally talk to some people interested in the car like I am, I knew there were some enthusiasts there somewhere, it was just finding you!!

Well what do you know - my golf was owned by an elderly lady in Surrey!  She had it for 15 years.  Mind you she drove it a fair bit - it had 89000 on the clock when I bought it.  Its 'stable companion' was a Jag ZJS convertible so they liked their drop-tops!

Thank goodness for old folks with kids that don't appreciate their taste in cars!
