Hello from Basingstoke
I've had a 1984 Cabriolet for the last 12 years (it's as standard as they come, even down to the Pierburg carb!! it's a 1600GL), and was just looking round for something to replace it when I came across this forum, I'm sorry I didn't find it earlier.
Only thing is, the car has just passed yet another MOT without trauma… I am waiting for it to die, so I can buy something more modern, but it just keeps going on and on, more reliably than any other car, and without costing me anything. I've become quite attached to it, and will get something more modern, but don't want to part with the old banger.
Good to be here, and hope you lot can come in handy if I get any problems…
Cheers

Hi, and welcome.
Pics….we all like to see pics of your car !!!
If you change your Cab for a more 'modern' car I think you will regret it. KEEP IT (as a second car on Classic insurance). Particularly after 12 years….you will definitely miss it.
I've had / been involved with Mk1's since 1981, and I had new Audi's, and we had (ahem) Cavaliers…….borrowed all sorts, driven all sorts……but NOTHING comes close to the Mk1, especially the Cab, now we have one each !!!!!!
And I'm sure you'll learn a lot and get lots of help from members of this site.

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…
