hello again

hello people , its been so long since i visited since the changeover from the campaign register i thought i would post in the new folks, some of you may remember me, the green campaign is in my garage awaiting an mot and a rebirth, my wife wants to start driving it as a daily driver  8O  its only done about 200 miles since the engine rebuild, it was for sale ages ago, im glad i didnt sell now, im looking forward to driving it again on some nice B roads :D

no not back on the road yet ,probably be a couple of weeks, bit of a worry letting the mrs drive it, should be ok she's been alright in the mk3 gti

nothing needs doing for the mot 'fingers crossed'
it still needs a full respray due to laquer and the sump gasket looking at as theres a bit of a leak
otherwise all looks good to go

I did the sump gasket on mine in the depths of winter on my back on a gravel drive. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! In the end I had to admit defeat and get local garage to finish the job off :oops:  Couldn't get all the bolts in that are tight up against the gearbox housing :evil:  GOOD LUCK! :lol:

After a load of hassle doing this one myself, I found that two 1/4" drive Halfords socket extensions joined together for length, and using the "wobble-head" feature at the socket itself, allows you to get at these ones, but it's still not particularly easy  :roll:
