Got my first golf :) 87 mk1 cabby! North lincs

Hi there people! I've bought myself an alrite little 87 cabby, it's a 1.6 with a twin webber carb! Im from scunthorpe, north lincs! Will be on the road in a week or so, hopefully with some sunshine left lol, I need a couple little bits n bobs so will be browsing the breaking section no doubt! Just one total noob question I wanted to ask before I got going…which Haynes manual do I need to buy? An earlier mk1 cab manual? Is that all? Or are there some differences in the later cabs compared to the earlier ones making me need to buy a mk2 book for the engine and lectrics? It's probably obvious but I just wanted to make sure lol! Thanks for any help in my upcoming posts

Hi there, thanks for the welcome! Hopefully the beast shall be running properly so I can get to the September meet….fitted a new rotor arm today as the old one was snapped on the inside, now I have discovered a fuelling problem lol  I only have the pic in my avatar at the min so I'll get some more taken! Anyone else with the Haynes info? Feels such a daft   question lol, thanks again

The Haynes no726 with the brown cover covers the Cabby up to 1985, so is fine for most stuff, but you will find the wiring diagrams won't cover later options like power windows and hood. It does cover power steering, but it won't cover your carbs - it only covers Solex carbs. I picked my copy up on ebay for a few quid.

Ill keep my eye out for you as your local to me! As the others say a normal Haynes is fine for the most part, the rest of the stuff is more than covered on here haha!
