Getting back to a Mk1 Golf Gti Convertible

I'm revisiting the cars from my mis-spent youth !  After having an Mk1 MR2 for the summer, I'm now wanting to go back to a Golf Convertible.  I had a black clipper, but I can now afford a Gti …  So the MR2's mot'd and up for sale, and I am on the hunt for a Golf Convertible, white, black, blue or red !!

I've seen a white GTi floppy top locally, but the hood is a little past it's best, but its' got good history and up for ? 1800.00, but not so sure on it.  I'm looking to spend a maximum of ? 2000.00 really, and I am not expecting perfection !!
