hi all,
i'm jon from Whitchurch in Shropshire and thought i'd join up and say hi as i'm looking for a nice gti tintop.
after selling my UR quattro turbo last year i've missing having a car with soul and have always wanted a mk1 so now with a couple of grand in the budget i'm looking for a sound reliable car that i can use as a daily drive inbetween thrashing my oldskool motorbikes!  :D
any advice would be greatly appreciated like for a start is there much differance between the 1600cc & 1800cc (tbh i didnt know there were two types of engine before hitting the classifieds   )

cheers, jon

Hi Jon, welcome to the forum.

You'll find a buyers guide on the homepage, should be quite useful.  As for the 1.6/1.8, there's only 2 horsepower in it so you'll not find a great deal of difference in the performance, the earlier cars were the 1.6.  They do have different driving styles tho, I find the 1.6 a more rev happy engine but dont dislike one more than the other.

A sneaky pic of the quattro wouldnt go amiss

Welcome Zed,

I've always loved the old Quattros, yet another German classic!!

Good luck with the car hunt!
