another newbie with a question

firstly hello everybody!!
just purchased a 85 cabrio auto and not overly happy with the gear linkage cable at the box end have sorted it out for now, but can some body please tell me what should be there. i have a sheaf in which fits a type of bolt with hole for cable also have a nut. do i need washers or any thing else, just seems very lose in there. if not anyone know best place too look

that looks like manual gears to me the one i got is auto but interesting anyway. think have fixed it now
