Hello and welcome to the club Tom88. Your local classifieds are one place. Bit of case of luck, but you may come across a bargain or two. Also try http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ . There are plenty of Mk1 to be fond on ebau.co.uk , but be very wary.
In terms of specialists the main two are http://www.wagenwheels.co.uk or http://www.volksdragon.co.uk - both cover the high end of the market. Feel free to post any pics questions you may have about mk1s that take your fancy.
Cheers

Hi tom
Check this one out; http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=9968#9968
he's just posted a link to pics. My advice would be to spend as much as you can on the car and get a decent one - esp. with correct and good trim. If you buy cheap you'll only end up spending a lot of money on it in the long run. Mine cost me ?1000 but I must have spend near ?2k keeping it going with garage bills but I guess only worth ?1500!
