Water ingress golf cab GTI.

Hi guys. After having a lot of electrical issues I had a look at the fuse box and it was quite badly corroded so I fitted a 2nd hand one and after another look I noticed the carpet was sodden on the passenger side. Is there a place where the water normally comes through on the passenger footwell. 

 Quite commonly through the heater fan due to sludge build up in the plenum chamber at the base of the windscreen. A build up of leaves and debris over the years can prevent the rainwater that enters the chamber through the ventilation slots in the bonnet from flowing out into the wheel arches through the drainage channels provided at both ends of the chamber. The picture below shows the outlet on the left hand end of the chamber on the Scirocco - it may be a little different on the Golf Mk1. It's best to remove the rain tray and clean out the whole chamber

Clean rain drains as mentioned left and right side behind the strut tower.  

Clean Drains and re-route of Vacuum and washer lines.


Clean the Vacuum hoses out of the drain and re-route them through grommet feeds and up the hinge. then use Vinyl hard lines through the bonnet.


Make or acquire a rain divertor, and Debris Guard and Re-seal all your feed holes for cables and such.

Then last do you have a drip stop loop on your antenna feed.

Are you sure the new one is non-corroded.
