MK1 Caddy 1.6D with 2.0 9A engine conversion wiring questions

Post

Hi All,

Apologies if this is asked all the time but I've have spent a fair bit of time researching and whilst there is plenty of info online, finding specifics on a case by case basis is somewhat more challenging, especially given this vehicle is a bit of a frankensteins monster of parts!

We have a Mk1 Caddy Originally 1.6D which has had a (what we believe) 2.0 9A Engine fitted along with Webber 45's.

vehicle has had a long 10 year slow restoration and we eventually got it running again yesterday.

I just have a few questions regarding wiring if anyone knows definite answers?

We are using the Corrado ICM and ECU Module (VW 191905351 C) and Hella/VW 811 906 384 (sorry about the terrible picture below, its all I could find online) and have wired it in in the following:

1 - Earth to battery -ve

2 - KR ign controller plug

3 - TCI-H plug

4 - Black - KR ign controller & TCI-H ign live - terminal 15 side of coil

5 - Green - Coil trigger - terminal 1 side of coil

6 - Brown - Earth to cylinder head

7 - Blue/white - Temp sensor feed NOT CURRENTLY CONNECTED

8 - Dizzy plug

9 - red/yellow - Fuel pump relay earth trigger NOT CURRENTLY CONNECTED

\- black/yellow - idle switch feed (12v feed with throttle shut) NOT CURRENTLY CONNECTED

This should all be correct with how we've wired.

My question comes from the original WHITE D connector from the CE1 Fuse Box….

We have run +12v from fuse box to ignition coil I can't remember whether we have used wire 23 for this, but I'm guessing that would be best?

Cable 26- Red/Black to coil- Negative

We have ran cable 1 to oil pressure switch

and all windscreen wiper ones correctly…

My few questions are….

Do we need wire 15 White/violet 9v ish resistance wire to ignition coil positive now as we have a separate 12v+ to coil (Using Bosch 9 224 771 008 12v coil) or is this now redundant?

I'm assuming the 9A engine is electronic ignition not points?

Which other cables in this connector are now definitely redundant with our set up as I'd like to terminate/ Remove them?

Which cable from white connector D would go to the coolant temp sensor in the 9A engine cylinder head (Just behind distributor) and does anybody have a picture of the wire connector that would typically be used on this?

below is a list of pins/wires in white connector D in CE1 Fusebox

Hope this all makes some degree of sense!
