Temperature Sender Wiring 1.8 EX Carb Engine

Wiring query

Hi! I’m sure this question will have been asked but I haven’t been able to track down the info I’m seeking….

I’m plodding slowly on with rebuilding my ’93 Cabby. I have sourced a “new” 1800 “EX” engine and have now got to the stage where I’m re-assembling the under-bonnet wiring looms and sorting out the cable runs.

My engine has the plastic housing bolted to the front of the cylinder head which takes the hose to the top of the radiator. This plastic housing also contains three units – which I’ll refer to as “Sender Units”. If I’m following my trusty Haynes manual correctly, one is the coolant Temp sensor (i.e. the thing that drives the temp gauge - AKA the Blue One) and the other two are effectively thermostats linked to the manifold heating and automatic choke??

My troubles start with the fact that this was all disconnected when I got the car and obviously the engine, as bought, had no plugs….

My big question is “How do I identify which is which? And “Which plugs/cables go to which sensor/sender??

The only colour match I have is the grey plug to grey body on the back one of the top two. Mechanically all the plugs seem to be interchangeable. The picture shows how I’ve connected them for now, based on the grey to grey and really the feel of the bias in the cables themselves.

I’m along way off “powering up” yet but I’d be much happier if I had a way of checking before I do.

Any help gratefully received. Thanks in advance!
