A bit harsh
Hi,
I've recently purchased a 1985 cabriolet and the previous owner had it lowered with eibach suspension.
I like the lower look but jeez when I go over a pothole it sounds like I'm the suspension is coming through the wings.
Can anyone recommend a replacement kit either to lower it where the ride is still decent or can anyone recommend going back to the original GTI suspension setup?
Thanks

Could be the last owner did not fit shorter bump stops so you are hitting or riding on the bumps stops.
I've got the eibach springs and bilstein shocks fitted to my cabriolet and they are only a little bit stiffer than the original set up.
I've got this set, I think they sell the shorter bump stops and covers?

You might need to check if the last owner changed the shocks at the same time as the springs?
Have a look at the front strut top mounts and if you can get your thumb between the metal cap and rubber they are shot and that can cause knocking/banging.

Thanks. That's brilliant.
Just the info I needed.
Now I need to speak to someone about the poor fitting roof. Can you recommend anyone?
Cheers

There is a guide to fitting a new roof (lots of pages) which may help?
