So after cleaning the under side and replacing the fuel tank and rear axle I regrettably started to check how bad the rust was on the back end 🙈 had to be done though!
I think its best I replace the rear lower panel rather that patch loads of bits. The spare wheel well also requires attention but not the whole tray.
Has anyone replaced the lower panel on a cab with the panel Heritage sell? Says it requires some modification to fit a cab, any pointers with that please.

I am literally in the same boat, just been given a Mk1 Cabrio and it has rust on the rear panel corners.
I have this exact panel, but have yet to fit it. I'll only need some small sections from each corner, but overall it seems a good match.

Stevie would you mind showing me a picture of the inner side of the panel, is it completely flat?
