I drove to get some fuel and when i got there i turned the key to turn the car off….and nothing happened. It still ran as normal, rev counter was on aswell as the dash lights
The only thing i did before leaving was to replace some fuses that had blown and replaced the LCD clock in the cluster
Are some of the fuses on the same circuit as the ignition barrel? Or is the barrel at fault and need replacing?
Thanks guys

Need to know if you have Carb or Digi for fuel, then
if you have an airbag before I tell you to replace the ignition switch which I suspect is the real issue.
Getting to it on a 91.5-93 with air bag takes a wee bit more finess and I will go into that when I know more.

Its a 1988 carb model, no airbag.
Hopefully the ignition switch is easy to replace
Thanks

Be sure that you mark the center of the steering shaft to the wheel, do no fully remove the nut off the shaft until you pull the wheel up and it is free of the splines, as it will save you from a fat lip, or a goose egg on your forehead.
Do not over tighten the screws holding the switches in place going back and as a precaution, I use a straight slot screw driver in the lower u-joint of the shaft and a block of wood as a lever to hold with my foot to keep the shaft in the bearings seated and it is easier to get the spring and c-clip back on.
