Hi All,
I'm looking for some help.
I bought a Cabriolet Gti a month back.
I'm looking for the side parts of the roof padding to stop the frame from showing/piecing the hood.
The hood looks like it has the padding around the rear screen but nothing on the top 2 sides.
Any ideas on what they are called and where I can get them & can they be fitted with out removing the hood?
Thanks
Mark

The picture shows the frame pushing against the hood.
There is no padding between the hood and the frame, Is this correct?
Thanks

Cabby Roof padding
I see what you mean.
There is no extra side bits which cover there as the pad underneath the roof skin is 1 big piece which covers the top.
Your roof looks new and I'm surprised who ever fitted it did not replace the pad?
I'm replacing my roof at the moment so have a couple of pics but not very good ones but can get some better ones later as the top is still off the car.
There is no padding around the rear screen.
Post up a thread in the help section or bodywork, fitting etc in the technical section as you may get more help as this section is for guides.

Found the guide to fitting new roof, have a look through that for better pictures etc…
If you scroll down the page in the link you can click on a link to the next page, page 3 has some better pictures of the pad and how it's fitted.

The padding coverlet goes under the padding, it supports the padding off the cross bars and frame bits.
The newer style padding kits are all vinyl on the bottoms and sides.
The horse hair is like:
You center the padding. then wrap the sides up and over
Staple the coverlet at the rear bar, and glue at the front.
I also glue the over lap.

Thanks mark1gls, I'll have a read of your posts.
Mine has a gap of between 2-3 inches either side hence why I thought something was missing.

The pad is there to smooth out and insulate the roof so there should be one under there however it doesn't go down past the last bow at the rear or extend over the sides of the roofs.
Message me if want prices mate for your roof stuff.
