Settling In
Clutch cable route
Hi Guys and girls
The clutch travel was right to the floor, and the cable worn in several places.
On replacing found the firewall penetration metal was torn where the clutch cable goes through the wall, rewelded but the clutch now
is extremely stiff. We now suspect an issue with the clutch push rod but can anybody supply a photograph of the actual clutch cable route
over or round the engine please

Never drove a RHD, so I can't help you there but there are mender plates and how to's on the firewall feed through and clutch tube which may be suspect.

I had a conversation with Mark at Classic vw parts regarding clutch cables earlier this year, my Mk1 being a diesel caddy.
He was saying there are three different types of clutch cables, the difference being the angle of the metal reinforced part just after the bulkhead, depends on wether the car is a carb, GTi or diesel engine, the routing is different for each, to get round to the gearbox.
Sorry I can't help with the route of the cable for you as my Mk1 is the 1.6 D.

you can send a large amount of monies, to the vw Museum and they will sell you a birth certificate.
You can decode the vin number at www.cabby-info.com.
There is another place that you can get the information from but I can't remember it. Some one on the forum would know.
