Staffs VW club rejection!!

Can anyone involved in the organising of Ultimate Dubs explain why The Staffs VW club have been denied a club stand at this years show?

The reason given, we are told by our moderators, is that our members cars have not had enough spent on em, interiors are not as tidy and paintwork not shiny enough!

Can anyone confirm or deny this as most of the club members are apalled at the remarks, most of the club members are young drivers doing their best to keep their Dubs looking good at the same time as keeping up with the ever increasing running costs whilst earning minimum wages..

This has come over as a real kick in the teeth for me and all who hoped to go.

Replies welcome.

Hi

Ultimate dubs has nothing to do this with this club in any way, shape or form..

when we booked our club stand last year, they asked for pictures of each car etc

From how i understand it, its becomming something of a cheque book show - your cars only good enough if its had thousands spent on it…

hence the name ultimate dubs -

did you ask for an outside stand or inside one, as the cars that go inside are all of a high standard, cars on the outside pitches tend to be more clubs and daily drivers, but they do still askf or some level of standards etc

I went last year and inside the halls is full of shiney stuff and soem good ideas, but for me the best part of a show is the cheaper and budget mods, people keeping cars on the road through love, sweat and tears, not cheque books.. for some i know this is the reason a lot dont go to this show

hope that helps clear a few things up..

Hi Waterworx,

Sorry to hear that your club got negative comments from the organisers. I've organised quite a few of this clubs stands over the past years and each year something else is added to the application list. We too had to include photos of all cars that we wished to go on the stand.
Luckily we were on a position that the cars were already to a high standard.

If you've not got in this year, look towards All Types and get a decent stand there, that show caters for 'all comers'.

Bit narrow minded from the organisers in my opinion. Fair do's if the inside stands need cars of A1 standard but to turn people away because they haven't had the cost of a small terraced house spent on them is silly. Their show their rules but turning away fellow dubbers mmmmmm . . . . . . . . Take it Staffs VW Club won't bother applying next year then, so a loss of potential show income for them, their loss. They could always rename it 'Ultimate Snubs' for 2011

The contents of this post are purely my opinion and not that of the Club

I no longer have the Mk1!! I now whizz round in a Black 1990 3dr Mk2 GTi 8v but the roof doesn't fold back when the sun shines :o

Thanks for the replies, you are all right, Staffs VW will all be giving the show a wide berth this year and in years to come, maybe if more clubs did the same the organisers would realise that the maority of Dubbers haven't got that kind of money to spend on their cars and we are more interested in seeing cars that peole have managed to keep on the road through the love of it not for how deep our pockets are, otherwise we would all be like the Simon Cowell wannabee with badly fitting jeans pulled up to his neck and shiny brown shoes, who rocked up at RAF Cosford breakfast club in his Lambo Murcialago!!

mmnn  …..two sides  of the dub scene,,,,,
.. i can understand about them wanting top quality show cars inside , after all that is the aim of the organisers, and show is named ultimate dubs …. not for me , i leave them to it, no doubt some amazing build quality,a lot of time and  money spent  ,   ect.

but for me mk1's and other dubs are all about the love hate relationship with your car ,  keeping your car going, making good friends on the forum , helping fellow dubbers,
the shows, camping, mud, bbq's   dodgey dancing in the beer tent , hunting for bargains on a shoestring budget, last minute ebay impulse buys,  having a go at  fixing the car yourself … so waterworx don't be put off by them snubbing you , leave them to it . have fun,  oh and if your club can make it there is usually a show called run to the hills in derbyshire which is a good down to earth show …..

Mk1 2l TSR G60.  .getting. There twice as fast

Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost
