run to the sun, Newquay May 2011

Hi everyone,

Is anyone going to Run to the Sun in May in Newquay, I know it has become abit chavvy the last couple of years, but there are alot of nice vw cars there ie mk1, mk2, mk3 golfs, corrados, scirrocos etc and a vw only camping field, it would be good to meet some people, I have been going last 4 years and there are alot of nice and interesting cars there, mainly classics.

There is music, show and shine, etc and hopefully nice weather.

hi mate i live in perranporth so will keep an eye out for you if you come down and we could meet up in newquay over the weekend if you like
i agree with what you  said it has gone down hill now all the boy racers go shame as it was a good vw meet years ago

Is Plymouth Volksfest the same weekend, as think it has been the last few years and that i turning into a nice alternative to run to the sun ? ?

yeah man, i'll be there this year, hoping to get mine ready by then, thats my deadline. been goin for the last few years and have had mint times there every year, cant wait for this one, im goin down mith me mates, they got corrado's, polo's, ratted polo's should be mint.

we went on the saturday and saw neville from the specials perform, camped over and came home sunday. we drank a hell of a lot of cider but i'm very sure we went as there are pics of us there on facebook lol.

anyways it's a quieter alternative to rtts, pretty much all vw. nowhere near as big as rtts but it depends if you want to be surrounded by 'the lads' revving jap engines or fancy a more subdued event - i am more partial to the more chilled event so it will be plymfest again this year. will prob stay at home in newquay for the friday so we catch the vw's coming in for rtts, always nice to cruise about and see loads of vws that aint local flying about.

it was cancelled for me as i got married that weekend had our own vdub weekend was one hell of a crazy wedding weekend let me tell you good times jen

I shall be down there again this year if anyone wants to meet up will be leaving Milton Keynes Thursday to start soaking up the atmosphere in Newquay

Too many nob heads go there now which is shame but i'm going again this year. I went to Plymouth last year which was good but Newquay itself is hard to beat.

will keep an eye out for you ... its the only time i see other mk1 in cornwall which is always a shame

im at rtts thsi year also but in a mk2 tho - wheres the vw only field? please say its the main camping area by the shop?! Ive not been for a few years

I think we're going this year starting at Bedford and collecting a few more from stevenage on the way. My car will still have RTTS 08 on the back with a 2011 addition so look out for us

guys - ive been before and am looking at rtts map - do you know which field is the vw only field? is it the one on the right before you get to club house or is it in the actual trevelgue site? not to be a car snob but last thing i want is to be parked next to saxos etc lol

i'm sure they will be lots of saxo's and corsa's around shame its not like the old days when it was all vdubs  :cry:  :cry:

I am thinking of going over, never put my golf in a show or been to one in it as such, and its only down the road so asuming its all back together and looking good then i am gonna enter the show and shine on sunday,

not going to expecting to win as mine is far from a show car but just want to do it for the fun of it really!

NOT A CHANCE! im going nowhere near that place, plymouth volks fest is where its at!!!

paying a tenner for show and shine only to be told by the judges they dont give prizes to nonaircooled takes the piss!
