CLASSIC CAR SHOW REVIEW

Well, what can I say except we have all been totally blown away by the reception and response we have had from visitors at the Classic Car Show. I think the most heard phrase of the weekend would have been 'Blimey, I used to have one of those!'

What was even more shocking is the number of people who came to talk to us over the three days who have MK1 Golfs (many from new! 8O ) are totally fanatical about them but simply didn't know we existed.

On to thank yous.. I cant thank enough Jeremy, Danny and Walt for taking the time and effort to bring their cars to the show for the weekend and lovingly polishing them. Hopefully the admiring glances and positive comments from the public are compensation enough! Also many thanks to all that turned up and helped out on the stand - without everyones assistance then this just wouldn't have happened.

Oh, for your viewing pleasure here is our stand;

I've already submitted for space for the 2006 show for 6 cars and we have plans for bigger and better to make the stand a little more inviting although I have to say our laid back approach and lack of fencing around the stand seemed to welcome people on.

If you didn't visit this time around I highly recommend you come next year, there's such a variety of cars there's something for everyone and if you're as lucky as me you'll get to see a car on a stand that you sold some 14 years ago! 8O

Once again - THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED!

Awesome! Looks great. Nice to see you got such a positive reception. It's always a bit 'suck it and see' with these events, but that looks like a dead cert for us next year.

Well done to Andy and Jeremy, Danny and Walt for providing cars. Fantastic!

Cheers,

Drew.

ps. Without you in the picture there, all the cars look like Corgi minatures!

I nearly cried when I (had to) sold it 14 odd years ago! Was Island Blue with white roof then. Was a cracking drive as was my earlier MK1 which was Old English White originally! My friends used to get scared rotten riding in it - said it was like a roller-coaster as so small and bouncy but damn fast! 8O

There were so many nice cars there - the old Fords looked stunning like the MK1 Mexicos, MK1-3 Cortinas……… 8)

Furtive more like   .

As has already been said, Andy and the guys who took the trouble to put their cars on the stand really deserve a big thank you from all of us. I was on the stand on the Sunday, and the level of interest was quite amazing. Thanks to everyone on the Sunday that made it such a great day.

If you have never been to the classic car show you are really missing something - there are some fantastic cars there and plenty to see.

I think next year with a bigger stand and more cars the club will only go from strength to strength.

Cheers,

Chris

Will make an effort to get to next years show for sure. If you want to use my car on the stand you're more than welcome!!!   At 240,00 miles (and still counting) on the original engine and gearbox, it's living proof that VW's do seem to go on for ever. It's an '89 Clipper - pics are online.

Thanks for a great site btw - only discovered it thanks to a mention in a recent Practical Classics article.

Really glad I could help out. It was a very well turned out show with lots of interest in our Golfs.
There was loads more cars than I thought there would be and the arena was massive - too much to see in one day.
Looking forward to next year.

Well done Andy for going to the trouble of organising this one.

Cool photo by the way - did you climb up the cafe to get that shot?

Congratulations for putting that together.
We were there on Sunday and the stand was attracting a lot of interest. Couldn't even say hello - everyone tied up!
Seemed to have more visitors than the American Chopper people who were kitted out with fences and doormen.
I don't know what everyone else thinks but I've been going to this show for years and there's a lot of stuff that's just old. Good luck to anyone who owns anything but they ain't got our classic status.
Not a bad location for us either, apart from the row of fake Lamborghinis next door. Who were they?
See you all next year and thanks again.
