Post

I know if a bit of a vague, but I have a couple of questions in regards to coilovers in a Mk1.

What do you think it the idea ride height? Front/Rear

What spring ratings do you prefer? Front/Rear

If you have adjustable damping how to you run it? Front/Rear

Depending on driving skills and trackday experience I would say that fast road spring rates would be a good starting point, in general a bit of understeer is easier to learn with than harder springs and potential catastrophic oversteer. :oGood quality coilovers will have enough damping adjustment to keep most people happy for quite while. You can then try changing to harder springs at a later date.
IMO having fun and enjoying your car on track and being progressive with learning, is must better than having a too aggressive car.
coilovers are just one part of the package, good brakes, updated anti-roll bars, bushes, tyres and appropriate wheel alignment all make a difference too.
