Just off the phone to my mate about parts for changing the rear drums on my Mk1 - They are knackered - got a warning on MOT last year as the balance is way out and they are tightened to the max and MOT is in about 6 weeks!

Anyway - He has a complete "Big-Drum" Passat set up I can have!
Gonna take it off, strip down, clean up and paint before it goes on the car by MOT time!  :mrgreen:

Went down on Sat morning but he was in bed with the flu. Have to wait till another day.

my back brakes are bad too al... how much like hard work is the 16v disc conv as i have the calipers and a spare rear beam here...

Not too bad…
Swap the Mk2 stub axles over complete as they are. Connect up the brake pipe and handbrake cable - Not sure if you need to use the Mk2 items here.
Bit more work if you want a load compensator though…

do i need 2 use the load compensator…

im thinking i have the full back axle off the mk2 and the mk1…

My bros old Mk1 didn't have one. The only prob was locking the back wheels was quite easy especially in the wet!

hmmm.... might be on the cards next wkend then...
