What seats fit MK1's
I'd like to find some seats to replace my wrecked ones.
Its a 1300 1983 driver.
I'm pretty sure that scirocco seats will just drop in as will any other MK1 ones. But what about MK 2, 3, 4's do they fit if not can they easily be made to.
Any help and advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Any seats from a Mk1 or Mk2 golf or scirocco car will fit. I believe Corrado ones go straight in too.
Mk3's have wider subframes and will go in if you cut and re-weld the rear legs.
Mk4's - not a clue sorry! Probably a nightmare though!

Mk2 and later Mk1 cab seats have the adjuster on the opp side
Easy fix though - Just swap the handles onto the opposite seats…

In the Archive section I have a how to remove the seat covers and repair the bolsters, as the new bolster and pads are more than the worth of the car…
www.cabby-info.com has pictures of all the interiors of Cabby's over the years… I personally loved the ones in my 81 Golf Diesel, no side bolsters, and they wore like iron, and still looked great after 20 years…
Now On a side note, I did tint the rear door glass and hatch so there was no fading on the rears at all.

Going to reopen this thread as starting a new one isn't great!
I want a set of seats for my car and I need your wisdoms please.
The seats HAVE to be….
1)VAG group
2)fully adjustable (electric would be nice)
- heated.
- The rear bench fitting without too much modification
- an armrest in the rear.
Not fussed if we chop and change the front and back as it's all getting re trimmed
Thanks in advance

Just had to build a support frame behind my rear seat no trimming needed, front seats were pretty easy too as welded the mk5 rails onto Mk1 body so can be changed back if ever needed, all in all the seats look class with the Mk1 tartan and leather feel whilst the luxuries of modern safety and comfort

That isn't to say it can't be done but I have seen some that looked squashed and whoopsided if attention to detail isn't observed, that is centering the new seat bottom and back and trimming the edges to properly look even.
